A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a Labor & Employment Associate to join its Detroit, Michigan office.
Position Overview:
This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of labor and employment matters, including complex litigation and day-to-day counseling for sophisticated clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle wage and hour class and collective action litigation
- Represent employers in single-plaintiff employment disputes
- Assist with union negotiations and traditional labor matters
- Advise clients on workplace compliance and risk management issues
- Manage matters involving OSHA regulations and EEOC charges
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other filings
- Support discovery strategy and execution across multiple cases
Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of labor and employment law experience
- Demonstrated experience with wage and hour litigation and employment disputes
- Familiarity with union/labor relations and workplace regulatory matters (OSHA, EEOC)
- Strong legal writing, research, and motion practice skills
- Experience managing discovery and case workflows
- Proven ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Team-oriented mindset with a positive, proactive approach
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships
- Interest or experience in business development is a plus
